Modular Block Walls

Modular Block Wall System is a proven solution in making retaining walls and bridge abutments. This wall system is built by reinforcing soil mass with uniaxial geogrids. The high efficiency connection between the facing and the geogrids is the best feature of this system. With this feature, it can allow rapid and economical construction, reduction of conventional construction time, avoidance of the need for specialist skills and often the utilization of site-won materials. Hence, cost of constructing this kind of wall system is surely cheaper than the conventional wall systems.

TW1 Blocks
The TW1 Wall System consists of pre-cast flat faced concrete modular blocks in combination with geogrids which reinforce the soil mass behind. Blue molded connectors are placed between blocks to provide its connection to geogrids. TW1 blocks are dry laid, placed one over the other until desired height is achieved. No cranes are necessary in constructing this wall system. In addition to its advantage is its distinctive geometry that allows the creation of both internal and external curves. Corners, stairs and other features are easily detailed.

TW3
The TW3 Wall System consists of pre-cast angular faced concrete modular blocks in combination with geogrids which reinforce the soil mass behind. These blocks are slightly larger than TW1 blocks and it has no chamfers at the edges. Fiber glass pins are used to provide connections between blocks and also to hold the geogrids in place. TW3 blocks are dry laid, placed one over the other until desired height is achieved. No cranes are necessary in constructing this wall system. In addition to its advantage is its distinctive geometry that allows the creation of both internal and external curves. Corners, stairs and other features are easily detailed.

Software
Software used in designing modular block walls with reinforcements offers clients accurate, efficient and innovative options in design from planning up to construction. LRFD (AASHTO 2010) 2-Part Wedge and Bautechnik Method are the design techniques used in designing modular block walls. Soil properties, earthquake accelerations, water pressure and surcharges are the input data needed in the software. After a cross section has been established, its external, internal and global stability are checked and adjusted until its design is satisfactory.
